As we approach another season of winter and the threats of snow are already flying around, I sit and think of  how different the Mid West is to the Pacific Northwest in the terms of snow and drivers.

Mid West is luck in the fact that 200 feet constitutes a hill and there is always the salt factor. But drivers expect snow and know how to drive in for the most part. Most people plan ahead and drive accordingly to what they face. And rarely do you find much ice under the snow.

Now the folks in the PNW don't call anything less than 2000 feet a hill. Anything less is just a slight climb. They don't use salt, but instead use gravel to help the windshield company's profit structure. There is almost always ice under the snow and the PNW drives are....well stupid when it comes to snow. Just the thought of snow can cause some drivers waves of terror.

So here I sit wondering what this season will bring and all I know is I want my black steed back. She ran wonderfully in the snow. Well except for that one cow incident.

Today was a good day..

I'm flying home today from Phoenix, AZ. First good thing: I was moved from my favorite seat in coach to a window seat in first class. Second thing: The guy sitting next to me did not want to talk and left me alone on the flight. Third thing: The flight was smooth and on time. Fourth thing: I'm walking out of the gate area at the airport when a TSA guy calls me over and ask me if I wanted an item, because if not he was going to throw it away. And you know it would be darn shame to throw out a nice bottle of...... Yes, that is correct, a nice 750ml bottle of Sauza Tres Generaciones 100% Puro De Agave Tequila. I'm now very...very ........tanked. Thank you TSA. I'm a 40% by volume Woodchuck.

snow...snow....snow

A free Herring or Walnut to who ever can guess my location.

People ask why.

Start of the trip...Here I am looking at the West end start of the Columbia River Gorge. Great River, trees, great places to eat, and sun, for a Woodchuck whats not to like? All of the pink are Cherry tress in bloom. The work is never done. The office is where the cell phone is. PS. No delay on take off and the AC blows cold and I always have a 1st class ticket.
