My computer is baaaaack.

With Parts Falling Out of IT.

So, I call the IT guys and tell them what is going on.

IT: Does it still work

Me: yup

IT: Maybe you should keep the loaner for a week or so, just in case.

Me: yup

Me: One tiny little question, very minor really,,, what about the software issue on the loaner computer? I mean, I don't want to be any trouble here.

IT: Hhhhmmmm, maybe we should send you a CD with what you need?

me: yup

Won't I look good going through the airports, I'm soooo important that I need, not one, but two computers. My job is so big it won't fit into just one. Why back up important information when you can have a back up computer.

I'm off to the hardware store now for some black duct tape and JB Weld. I have silver duct tape at the house, but I feel that the higher tinsel strength that you get with black out weights the higher speed rating on the silver. And why JB Weld, in case I need to put any of the parts back in.

If you had read your HORRORscope you would have been prepared for this:

A delivery of some kind that you were expecting to come from far away might be delayed, causing you to wonder if it might have been lost. It hasn't - it's just delayed. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do but wait. Mechanical equipment could also go out of whack, necessitating calling in a repairman. This could set you back some and make you antsy. Try to find something else to do!

You forgot to mention the part about DHL trying to deliver it to a Cambodian family on the other side of town . . .

And IT said they were maybe sending a Dell repairman out next week . . .

I think you need to find something else to do . . . like move the furniture and buy a TV . . . maybe . . .

Damn IT people. Anti-social geeks, all of them. Oh, wait, I'm an IT person. Well, at least the description fits.

ok Khyle - since you're the IT guy, er guru - what's with PP blowing up pictures and leaving you with the red "X" of doom ???

and don't give me the crap about memory - the company has furnished him with a lovely 2000 model, in fact Barbie has the same model, uh, at least same size ;)

So, what car would you buy your kid???

There seems to be a general discussion running rampant around here about what type of car you should by a kid. And when said car should appear around the house. As I only have 4 years to pull this off, better start now. Things to consider before buying the car: 1. DD must complete 12 hours of flight time before taking test for permit. 2. Complete at least one driving school, Skip Barber , Bondurant Racing School , and so on. 3. DD must be able to change a tire, change the oil, do basic maintance on the car. I would like them to be able to strip down an engine and do a rebuild , however that may be just to much at this point. 4.DD must understand that I will not under any circumstance have or allow a pink car to park in front of my house. Cars come in four colors only, Red, Blue, Black, and British Racing Green. 5. Just what is the perfect Horse power to weight ratio? 6. Only one passenger in the car at a time. This is a good argument for a older British sports car that only has two s...

When do you take a Vacation?

I don't really take vacations, instead I take a lot of small trips with my family. I put the two little rodents in the back and we drive and enjoy time with each other. Although no one in the family is a road warrior like me, they do enjoy the destinations. I have not taken any days off this year and will take my "Vacation time" in December and have fun with the rodents. I guess I will never understand someone who needs to leave the kids with the Grandparents and go away for two weeks to some place expensive for a break. I mean, shouldn't you home life and family be where you want to go when you need a break. However, I do understand that this does not apply to my MIL....not going there.....not going there........We teach our kids to live and breathe in this world, don't do that, don't do this. But, do we ever teach our kids to have fun. Does anyone ever say do this, do that, or run wild and have fun? Next time you are driving down the road and you pass one of...

Year end review

Another year comes to a close.  Fantastic year for baking. Ending the year with spiced squash muffins. The persimmon cookies were a surprise hit.  Had a minir issue with the amplifier. Apparently letting the magic smoke out is a bad thing.  Added a new ride for Kelly and a new ride for me on the back of her ride. The princess is still a princess. Small child number two is now married. I was able to  invoke the oldest childhood tradition of no give backs.  Still at Garmin and doing well. Great company to work for. 380 miles on the new bike. It's been a long time since I racked up that many miles.  Upstairs bathroom remodel is complete. Not to bad for a beginner.
